Letter from the Mayor, Mickey L. Murdock
Welcome to Elba, Alabama. Whether you are seeking a place to live, work or even just traveling through, you are guaranteed to be greeted with casual living, plenty of activities and a warm smile.
Elba, with low property taxes and inexpensive realty is an affordable and ideal place to live or work. Life in Elba is slow and easy with low crime rates and no traffic jams. We also have our own city school system and can assure you that you will have a voice in your child’s or grandchild’s education.
Outdoor activities abound in Elba. There is a city maintained lake and a river runs through the town. In Elba, you can easily go hunting or fishing with your friends and family or even venture out on a leisurely stroll around town. Also, if you are looking for a convenient place for a family vacation, you will be glad to know that the beautiful white-sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico are less than two hours away.
Elba citizens are innovative and hard-working people. For example, our three major employers— Pitts Enterprises, Inc. (Dorsey Trailers), Kelley Foods, and National Security Insurance Group — are home-grown industries. Further, a Korean auto parts manufacturer, INZI Controls of Alabama located and recently committed to expanding its manufacturing facilities in Elba becoming the fourth major employer.
Most people expect to encounter true southern hospitality in a small Southern town, such as Elba, but you should know that our citizens truly know and care for each other. Down here, everyone is considered a neighbor.
We hope that you will stop in Elba for a visit and make Elba your home.
With best regards,
Mickey L. Murdock
